Smokey sweet whiskey beans are a delicious and hearty side dish that will add a punch of flavor to any meal. These beans, typically made with navy beans, are slow-cooked in a savory mixture of whiskey, brown sugar, Smokey Sweet Rub, and bacon. The result is a balanced combination of sweetness and smokiness that pairs wonderfully with grilled meats or hearty sandwiches. The whiskey adds a subtle but distinct flavor to the dish, while the brown sugar provides a rich sweetness that caramelizes beautifully as the beans simmer. The addition of smoky bacon takes it to another level by infusing the dish with its irresistible aroma. Whether you're hosting a backyard barbecue or just looking for an easy yet impressive side dish, these smokey sweet whiskey beans will surely be a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients
-
¼ cup Bama’s Smokey Sweet Rub
-
½ cup Lane’s Pineapple Chipotle Sauce
-
½ cup Kurvball Whiskey
-
4 16oz cans of Navy/Great Northern beans
-
1 medium sweet onion, sliced thin
-
2-3 jalapenos, seeded and diced
-
8oz bacon, cooked and chopped
Directions
Preheat smoker to 275°F, and add your favorite smoking wood/pellets. We like apple, peach, or pecan for this recipe.
In a grill safe dutch oven or cast iron pot, add all ingredients and stir well to combine.
Cook for 2 hours, or until your desired thickness. Stir every 20-30 minutes to prevent any scorching.
Serve alongside your favorite BBQ main dishes!
Recipe Note
- Sub out the Pineapple Chipotle for Lil Spicy or Kinda Sweet
- If you are precooking your bacon, use more of the Smokey Sweet rub or your favorite Lane's rub to season the bacon
